Help: Instrument air is filled inside the temperature protection sleeve

Today I saw the protective sleeve of a thermal resistor, to which instrument air was connected. What is the purpose of supplying instrument air inside the protective sleeve of the temperature sensing element? Why is it necessary to supply instrument air? This protective sleeve is inserted into the boiler. Please help!
It must be some corrosive gas; instrument gas is pumped into the sleeve to maintain a positive pressure and protect the thermal resistor. However, this approach is not often used for thermal resistors – instead, precious metal thermocouples are typically used in such cases.
It would be best to send a video so we can see what it looks like and facilitate the discussion. Usually, this setting does not exist. There are those with direct insertion, as well as those with sleeve isolation. For reference.
I guess it uses counterflow instrument air to prevent coking and facilitate inspection, maintenance, and disassembly.
Will blowing in this way have some impact on the measurement?
