Currently, the wave of the digital economy is on the rise, with new-generation information technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and blockchain accelerating their integration with the real economy on a wider scale and at a deeper level. The industrial sector is a key area for the digitalization of industries and the development of digital-based industries in our country; it is also a crucial area where large volumes of data are gathered, circulated, and deeply analyzed for practical use. The security of industrial data is closely related to **security and social stability. As the security situation becomes increasingly severe, it is imperative to take immediate action to ensure protection. The 2023 Industrial Safety Conference was themed “Meeting the Challenges of Data Security to Support the Development of a Digital China.” It addressed the new issues and challenges related to industrial data security in an era of digitalization and intelligence. The conference aimed to bring together representatives from government, industry, academia, research institutions, and practical application sectors in order to strengthen the foundations of industrial network security, foster new drivers for innovative development, create a new ecosystem for digital cooperation, establish a new framework for network security, and accelerate the enhancement of the core competitiveness of China’s industrial data security industry. Together, these efforts are intended to build a robust security barrier for a strong manufacturing nation, a powerful cyber nation, and a digital China. Faced with the increasingly complex and severe cybersecurity challenges in the industrial sector, we must adhere to the principle of balancing development and security, embrace new concepts and approaches, and integrate security considerations into all aspects and throughout the entire process of digital transformation in manufacturing. We need to comprehensively strengthen the cybersecurity protection systems and capabilities in this sector in order to prevent and address new risks and issues related to cybersecurity in industry. With everything being interconnected, do you think industrial network security is secure these days? What are the vulnerabilities?
