First, communicate with the client to gain a detailed understanding of the project progress at the construction site, the basic parameters of the tanks on site, the medium being handled, as well as the operating conditions there. Only when the construction site meets all the requirements necessary for the installation and calibration of these instruments can the company’s customer service and after-sales staff proceed to the site to carry out such installation and calibration work. (The following are the components required for the installation and calibration of external-mounted level gauges, as well as the conditions that must be met on-site.) Components required before installation: 1. One 2-inch vertical pipe (to fix the gauge; the height is determined by the customer). 2. Two galvanized pipes (one for the electrical wires, one for the probe wires). 3. Two flexible pipes (one to connect the electrical wires to the gauge, and one to connect the probe wires to the gauge). 4. Two bellows hoses (to connect the probe to the probe pipe). 5. The galvanized pipes should be installed in such a way that, as shown in the diagram, they can run along the floor or in any location where they can be easily fixed. 6. Columns ④ and ⑤ in the header represent M20×1.5 internal thread connections; the specific installation height can be determined based on the actual conditions on site.7. As shown in the diagram, the specifications for the galvanized pipe fittings are either M20×1.5 internal threads or G1/2 external threads (for fixed connection of instruments).
8. As shown in the diagram, the connection specifications for column ⑥’s galvanized pipe fitting are M20×1.5, or the specific connection method can be provided by the client on site.
9. The installation dimension of the probe on the tank wall should be no less than a circle with a diameter of 100 mm.
10. The positions of the two probes (far from welds: one located directly below the tank body for measurement, and one on the tank’s central axis for calibration) are as shown in the diagram. (The specific lengths of the 2-inch vertical pipes, galvanized pipes, and corrugated hoses are determined based on the actual conditions on site.)
Installation of external-mounted level gauges
Prerequisites for installation and commissioning
1. The fixing brackets for the gauge header (for 2-inch vertical pipes) must be installed first. 2. Install the galvanized pipe in place (the two probes to the meter head, and the electrical interface to the meter head). 3. The liquid level in the tank must be above half of the tank’s volume. 4. Once the power cable (signal cable) has been installed and inspected successfully, it can be made available at any time for After-sales service technicians to carry out adjustments. (If the field instrument uses a four-wire system, the power of the 24V DC supply must be greater than 10W; this requirement does not apply if the instrument uses a two-wire system.) 5. All process parameter values related to the host computer have been confirmed (when the level gauge has a remote transmission function). 6. The debuggers can enter the site at any time. 7. The entire installation and commissioning process must be carried out with the assistance of on-site instrument technicians. Guidelines for calibrating external-mounted level gauges Precautions for on-site installation: 1) To ensure the measurement accuracy of the instrument, the liquid level in the tank must be above half full before calibration, so that the instrument can be calibrated continuously. 2) If the tank is too large, the client on site should prepare a ladder that can reach the height of the tank’s radius. 3) If working in a toxic and hazardous on-site environment, the on-site staff must provide safe protective measures for our company’s after-sales installation personnel. 4) After the installation and commissioning are completed, the person in charge of the on-site instruments must sign the (On-Site Installation, Commissioning and Acceptance Report), and may also provide relevant comments on what has been accomplished as well as suggestions. 5) Our after-sales staff must wear **standardized industrial work uniforms and anti-static protective shoes when entering the site; in areas with strict explosion-proof requirements, non-explosion-proof electronic devices are prohibited from being used.
