Large errors in the measurement of compressed gases using vortex flowmeters are usually due to the fact that these meters are highly sensitive to operating conditions, particularly the fluid velocity and Reynolds number. When measuring compressed gases, the density and viscosity of the gas change with pressure and temperature; these changes affect the Reynolds number of the fluid, which in turn impacts the measurement accuracy of the vortex flow meter. Furthermore, vortex flowmeters are also sensitive to pipeline vibrations and sound waves, which can introduce additional errors in certain industrial environments. If conditions permit, it is advisable to consider using flow measurement instruments that are better suited to high pressure, high temperature, and changing conditions, such as orifice plate flow meters or mass flow meters. .
Vortex flow meters have requirements regarding flow velocity; they will not measure flows below the minimum threshold. Additionally, vibrations and electromagnetic interference significantly affect their measurement accuracy; Orifice plate flow meters have a relatively small rangeability; significant load fluctuations can greatly affect their measurement results. These factors must be carefully examined. Provided that all operating conditions are within the specified limits, the deviation in measurement results should not be substantial, and they will remain within the meter’s accuracy range.
