【Learning from Others: Jilin Petrochemical’s Acrylonitrile Plant Overcomes the Problem of pH Meter Damage Through Technical Upgrades】

Recently, the acrylonitrile plant of Jilin Petrochemical Company overcame the problems of easy wear and inconsistent specifications of pH meter electrodes through technical upgrades, expecting to save more than 200,000 yuan in costs related to instrument accessories for the whole year. Previously, the pH meter electrodes of various devices had different specifications and were not interchangeable; coupled with a highly corrosive operating environment, the electrode wear rate remained high. A task force was formed by the factory’s mechanical equipment room and the electrical and instrumentation center. After on-site inspections and feasibility studies, a renovation plan involving \"customized extension rods + protective sleeves\" was developed to accurately suit electrodes of different specifications. After the modification, thanks to the standardized design of the extension rods, it became possible to adapt pH meter electrodes of different specifications across various devices, thereby making effective use of existing spare parts inventory and completely resolving the problems associated with the variety of spare part specifications and tight supply conditions ； On the other hand, the protective sleeve effectively prevents the medium from directly scouring the electrode’s sensitive membrane, thereby significantly reducing the risk of corrosion-related damage. This extends the service life of the electrodes considerably and resolves the long-standing problems associated with equipment maintenance.
