High levels of naphthalene in gas affect operation; how can the naphthalene content be reduced fundamentally?
The only fundamental solution is to stop production, as naphthalene is produced during the carbonization process in the carbonization chamber. It can only be processed in the purification workshop.
Generally, reducing the outlet temperature of the primary cooler is used. However, there are also exceptions; for example, Baosteel uses a three-stage water-oil-water process for naphthalene washing.
