Unstable hydropower supply; daily coal consumption rising rapidly year-on-year

According to the China Phosphorus Coal Industry Network, this year, insufficient hydroelectric power generation and unstable operation of hydroelectric plants during the summer have increased the pressure on thermal power plants, leading to higher coal consumption. Starting from March after the Spring Festival, the average daily coal consumption of the six coastal power plants increased to over 600,000 tons; in March, the average daily coal consumption of these coastal power plants was 654,000 tons. From April to June, the average daily coal consumption of the six coastal power plants was 639,000 tons, 612,000 tons, and 627,000 tons respectively. In July, the daily fuel consumption of the six major power plants along the coast increased to 722,000 tons, showing continued rapid growth compared with the same period last year. In August, the daily fuel consumption of the power plant rose even higher to 800,000 tons.
