According to the China Phosphorus Coal Industry Network, coal consumption by power plants continued to decline in September. Data from the China Coal Market Network shows that the average daily consumption of the six major coastal power plants has remained at around 670,000 tons recently, a significant drop compared to previous periods. Meanwhile, northern ports have an ample supply of coal, while inventory levels at ports in the Yangtze River Delta, which are major coal-consuming areas, have increased significantly. It is evident that the supply and demand balance in the port coal market continues to improve; therefore, there is no basis for coal prices to keep rising. As the effects of the off-season continue to manifest over time, port coal prices are likely to return to a reasonable range.
