Shanxi Yangmei Fengxi Quanji Energy Co., Ltd. adopted the fractal gradated coal slurry concentration technology developed by China National Coal Mining Group Sanfeng, which increased the concentration of the water-coal slurry used in the Jinhua furnace by 4.09 percentage points; this led to a 2.21 percentage point increase in the amount of gas produced. The net profit amounted to 11.3326 million yuan per year, and the entire investment could be recovered within 14 months. The 240,000-ton-per-year synthetic ammonia and 400,000-ton-per-year urea production project of Yangmei Fengxi Quanji Company uses Jinhua Furnace 2.0. The coal slurry preparation system is equipped with two rod mills; originally, a rod mill-based slurry preparation process was used, resulting in an unsuitable particle size distribution of the coal slurry. The concentration of the coal slurry was low, and its fluidity, stability, and atomization properties were poor. This not only reduced the gasification efficiency but also led to higher coal and oxygen consumption. Additionally, it accelerated wear on the nozzles of the gasification furnace, increasing the frequency of shutdowns of the furnace. After conducting research and evaluations, Yangmei Quanji Company decided to adopt the Sanfeng fractal gradated coal slurry concentration technology developed by China National Coal Mining Group Corporation to increase the concentration of the coal slurry. The three-peak fractal graded coal slurry concentration technology unit consists of 1 fine grinder and 1 ultra-fine grinder, along with associated tanks, pumps, and other equipment. It adds fine and ultra-fine slurries to the existing coal slurry particle size distribution, thereby creating a three-peak distribution. This optimizes the particle size distribution of the coal slurry, improves its packing efficiency, reduces energy consumption in gasification, and enhances the slurry’s fluidity, stability, and atomization properties. The project began trial operation with material feeding on March 14, and recently passed the 72-hour production target assessment. The test results show that the slurry concentration increased from 60.1% to 64.19%, and the effective gas content rose from 79.91% to 82.12%. With the coal feed rate remaining unchanged, the amount of coal required per ton of ammonia produced decreased from 1.44 tons to 1.39 tons, while the increase in effective gas production per hour was 2214 Nm3. The effective gas volume corresponds to an ammonia production of 1.08 tons, resulting in an annual increase in synthetic ammonia production of around 7,776 tons. If the price of ammonia is taken as the current selling price of 2,538 yuan per ton (including taxes), the annual net profit can reach 11.3326 million yuan. Source: China Chemical Industry News
