As the title suggests, what are the requirements regarding the particle size of coal used in fluidized bed gasification? What impact does changing the particle size range from 0~10mm to 0~2mm have on the gasification process?

For fluidized beds, there are specific requirements regarding the size of the solid particles; they cannot be either too large or too small. Smaller sizes result in better fluidization, but the relative loss is also greater ; If it’s too large, fluidization will be affected to some extent! Furthermore, fluidization imposes requirements on various aspects of the particles, such as their shape and roundness. I just did a search, and there are quite a few books on fluidization on the forum;P
Coal with high reactivity can have a larger particle size, while coal with lower reactivity can have a smaller particle size.
It is mainly determined by the selected furnace type. Taking the Ende furnace as an example, coal with a particle size of 0–10 mm is suitable for this type of furnace, among which particles sized 3–7 mm are most appropriate for its reactions. If the particle size in the range of 0–2 mm is excessive, the reaction time inside the furnace is short; the generated gases burn within the furnace, resulting in energy waste and excessively high local temperatures. It is not conducive to the gasification reaction throughout the furnace.
