The process of extracting coke from the coke oven itself is intermittent; at regular intervals (usually between 15 and 60 days), coke manufacturing companies schedule downtime for maintenance of the coke ovens and dry quenching systems, during which coke extraction is halted for a few hours while the equipment is serviced. Meanwhile, gas production and other related processes continue as normal. Therefore, it can be said that coke manufacturing companies are able to maintain 24/7 production.
