On October 9, the sixth water-coal slurry gasifier, a key piece of equipment for the gasification unit in Zhejiang Petrochemical’s integrated refining and chemical production project, was installed in place. Each gasification furnace weighs 348 tons, with an installation height of 37.96 meters. A 1250-ton crawler crane is used for main lifting, while a 450-ton crawler crane is used for assisting with the lifting process. The installation of the gasification furnace is complete, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of the steel structures in floors 38 and above, as well as for the installation of process piping. At the same time, it also marks the nearing completion of the heavy lifting for the project, with the actual installation work gradually beginning. Taking Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 40 million tons per year integrated refining and chemical processing project as an example, it was approved in May 2017; the first phase of this project involves the construction of facilities for refining 20 million tons per year, producing 4 million tons per year of p-xylene, 1.4 million tons per year of ethylene, as well as various downstream chemical processing units. The project includes 6 water-coal slurry gasifiers with a coal feeding capacity of 2,500 tons per day; the syngas production capacity is 680,000 cubic meters per hour, of which 110,000 cubic meters per hour are hydrogen. The main facilities of the first-phase project include units for 20 million tons per year of atmospheric and vacuum distillation, 3 million tons per year of light hydrocarbon recovery, 3 million tons per year of delayed coking, 5 million tons per year of residue hydrodesulfurization, 3.8 million tons per year of wax oil hydrocracking, 8 million tons per year of diesel hydrocracking, 4.2 million tons per year of heavy oil catalytic cracking, 2 million tons per year of catalytic gasoline hydrogenation, 1.5 million tons per year of aviation fuel refining, 3.2 million tons per year of naphtha hydrogenation, 8 million tons per year of continuous reforming, 5.2 million tons per year of aromatics production, 450,000 tons per year of alkylation, 480,000 tons per year of sulfur recovery, 1.4 million tons per year of ethylene production, 600,000 tons per year of propane dehydrogenation, 900,000 tons per year of polypropylene production, 260,000 tons per year of polycarbonate production, 260,000 tons per year of acrylonitrile production, and 90,000 tons per year of methyl methacrylate (MMA) production.
Using the gasification process to produce syngas, in combination with oil refining or petrochemical plants, allows for the utilization of the advantages of both approaches, resulting in significant economic benefits!
