Recently, East China University of Science and Technology confirmed that it has signed a patent licensing agreement for the multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology with Inner Mongolia Baofeng Coal-based New Materials Co., Ltd. (for the methanol production project associated with the 4×1000,000 tons/year coal-to-olefins demonstration project), and has completed the development of the process software package. The type of gasifier used in this project is the super-large gasifier that was intended to be built as part of a key research and development project during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, a project undertaken by our university and Yankuang Group (now Shandong Energy Group); this gasifier is capable of processing 4,000 tons of coal per day per unit, with a diameter of 4.0 meters and a gasification pressure of 6.5 MPa. This signing marks the full-scale promotion of this furnace model following its successful commissioning at Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd. This 4×1 million tons/year coal-to-olefins pilot project plans to install 20 multi-nozzle opposed coal slurry gasifiers, each with a capacity to process 4,000 tons of coal per day; 15 units will be in operation while 5 serve as backups. The total effective gas production capacity of the facility (for CO+H2) is 3.3 million Nm3/h. This project is not only the coal gasification project with the largest scale of equipment ever used since our university’s multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology was put into industrial use in 2005, but it is also the largest coal chemical project currently under construction or already operational in the whole country.
This is truly a super-large gasification project, capable of processing 60,000 tons of coal per day.
The first application of a 4,000-ton multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasifier was in the second phase of the Yankuang Rongxin Chemical project.
