The pilot project for using concentrated brine from Xintian Coal Chemical Industry in the gasification furnace is progressing smoothly. Author/Source: Zhejiang Energy Xintian Coal Chemical Industry. Recently, the catalytic test project involving the use of concentrated brine from the gasification workshop at Xintian Coal Chemical Industry is advancing in an orderly manner. At present, the main equipment of the testing apparatus has been installed. Upon completion of the process modification, it is expected that the problem of dealing with hazardous waste resulting from impure salts will be alleviated to some extent. At the same time, the methane content in the raw gas will increase by 1 to 2 percent. It is understood that the concentrated brine production rate of the water treatment workshop at Xintian Coal Chemical Industry is 110 cubic meters per hour, while the actual processing capacity is 90 cubic meters per hour. This bottleneck of insufficient processing capacity due to the production process has always been the main factor restricting the company’s ability to operate on a long-term basis. Based on the analysis data of concentrated brine, salts such as potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium act as catalysts for the gasification reaction of coal. To this end, the company’s gasification unit took this as a starting point and decided to inject the salts contained in the reverse osmosis concentrated brine from its water treatment unit into the pressurized gasification furnace as a catalyst, thus marking the beginning of a campaign to overcome this bottleneck. By the end of 2020, after more than three months of project evaluation, approval, and design work, the company’s pilot project involving the reuse of concentrated brine from the gasification unit in the gasification furnace was carried out in an orderly manner. Throughout the entire implementation process, the responsible persons at Xintian Coal Chemical Industry attached great importance to this experimental project and provided ongoing supervision; various relevant departments worked closely together, technical staff kept track of progress at all times, and the workers worked overtime to overcome difficulties, thus enabling the transformation project to advance steadily. “For this experiment of introducing concentrated brine into the gasification furnace, Frame B, Gasification Furnace No. 6, has been preliminarily selected as the test furnace. Once all piping work is completed, it is planned to officially start the water filling test around the time of the major maintenance. ”The person in charge of the company’s gasification workshop explained. As the primary production facility of the company, the gasification workshop at Xintian Coal Chemical Industry is responsible for supplying qualified raw coal gas to the subsequent systems. Since it came online in 2017, the facility has made every effort to achieve the goal of turning losses into profits by focusing on indicator optimization, equipment reliability, and energy conservation. A number of major technical improvement projects have been completed, including the installation of additional coal lock gas buffer tubes, the modification of the Porsmann sleeves inside the gasifier, and the addition of spray nozzles at the gasifier outlet. These efforts have helped to overcome production challenges and improve the operational efficiency of the process, creating favorable conditions for the subsequent stages to operate at full capacity. This has effectively led to improvements in quality and increased efficiency.
