Successful one-time feeding of 3,500-ton space furnace at Shandong Runyin Biochemical Co., Ltd. Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum Date: 2021-11-19 Clicks: 7 Recently, the first 3,500-ton space furnace developed by the Aerospace Engineering Company was successfully ignited and fed in one go at Shandong Runyin Biochemical Co., Ltd.; the entire production process was operational, and qualified ammonia products were produced. This gasifier is an ultra-large-scale pulverized coal gasifier with a daily coal feeding capacity of 3,500 tons. Based on the existing furnace designs, the aerospace engineering company optimized the reactions within the furnace as well as the control of flow patterns, thereby ensuring optimal gasification performance. It also developed a semi-waste-boiler/quenching technology that makes full use of the sensible heat generated during gasification to produce high-pressure steam. This approach offers advantages such as a higher daily coal input capacity, better technical performance, lower initial investment costs, reduced operating expenses, and improved environmental standards. The use of this gasification furnace improves the efficient and clean utilization of coal, playing a positive role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of China’s coal chemical industry, helping to achieve carbon emission reduction and carbon neutrality goals, as well as fostering sustainable, low-carbon development. At present, Aerospace Engineering Company and Shandong Runyin Biochemical Co., Ltd. are working to ensure that the gasification furnace meets the required standards and can operate stably over long periods of time. It is understood that Runyin Chemical, as a subsidiary of Ruixing Group, has its Phase III powder coal gasification and aerospace-scale ultra-large powder coal gasification demonstration project included in the key research and development program at the **Ministry of Science and Technology** level. The total investment in this project is 2 billion yuan. A super-large pulverized coal gasifier will be installed by Aerospace Changzheng Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd., along with an air separation unit capable of producing 86,000 Nm3/h of oxygen, as well as ammonia synthesis and purification facilities. This setup boasts advanced process technologies, energy-efficient and high-performance equipment, and intelligent production operations. Upon reaching full capacity, it will produce 800,000 tons per year of synthetic ammonia, with an additional 1.4 million tons of advanced urea production capacity. For the two gasification projects prior to Phase III at Shandong Runyin Biochemical Co., Ltd., the first phase, which is a pulverized coal gasification project, had a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan; it was completed and put into operation in 2012, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of urea. The air separation unit with a capacity of 35,000 Nm3/h (from Tokyo) associated with this first-phase project successfully produced high-quality oxygen and nitrogen products ; The investment in the Phase II powder coal gasification project amounted to 2.6 billion yuan; it was completed and put into operation in 2017, with an annual urea production capacity of 3 million tons. The air separation unit with a capacity of 60,000 Nm3/h supplied for this Phase II project (manufactured by Hangyang) successfully produced high-quality oxygen and nitrogen products.
