The kick-off meeting will be held at the methanol synthesis site. Personnel from the Project Management Department, the Zhong’an Project Department of Nanjing Engineering Company, and the construction units involved attended the kick-off meeting. It is reported that the methanol synthesis and sulfur recovery units were constructed by Nanjing Engineering Company, and they are important components of the entire coal chemical project. Among them, the methanol synthesis plant has a production capacity of 1.8 million tons per year, and it is located to the west of the first circulating water plant ； The sulfur recovery unit has a production capacity of 20,000 tons per year; it is located to the west of the purification unit and to the north of the methanol synthesis unit. Completion of construction is scheduled for October 30, 2018. On June 1, the construction of the project’s first and second circulating water plants officially began, with completion scheduled for July 31, 2018. On May 26, the groundbreaking ceremony for Bid Section 2 of the project’s gasification unit installation work was held. On May 13, the construction of the 350,000-ton/year polypropylene plant began officially, with Sinopec Fifth Construction Co., Ltd. being responsible for the construction work. On March 17, the purification unit of the Zhongan United Coal Chemical Project, constructed by Sinopec Nanjing Engineering, began construction; this is the first new main unit to start work since the resumption of operations at the Zhongan United Coal Chemical Project. The installation is scheduled to be completed on October 30, 2018. The overall goal for the 1.7 million tons per year coal-to-methanol and associated olefins production project of Zhongan United Coal Industry & Chemical Co., Ltd. is to complete the construction by the end of 2018, with the entire production process up and running by June 2019. On December 7, 2016, a preparatory meeting was held for the resumption of work on the Zhong’an coal chemical project, to arrange the preparations for its restart. On January 20, 2017, a meeting on resuming work on the Zhong’an project was held in Huainan. The project headquarters issued the \"Notice on Resuming Construction of the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Project\" (Petrochemical Shares Construction & Refining [2017] No. 6), and announced that work on the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Project had officially resumed. The Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project is a key construction project of Sinopec and Anhui Province. Zhongan United Coal & Chemical Co., Ltd. was established on December 18, 2010, with a registered capital of 4 billion yuan. It is funded equally at 50% each by Sinopec Corporation and Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd. The core process of the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project utilizes the S-MTO patent technology owned by Sinopec, while the gasification unit employs the SE-Dongfang furnace technology also owned by Sinopec. Using coal from the Zhujixi mine as raw material, methanol and converted olefins (LDPE/PP), ethylene glycol (MEG) and other products are produced. Sinopec Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. is responsible for the overall management of the design, procurement, and construction of the MTO/OCC and PP units in this project, as well as six supporting facilities including the control room and 110-kilovolt substation ； Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the design and construction of the gasification unit for the contracted project.
