Yangmei Group presents seven technical challenges, inviting experts from home and abroad to help solve them. Author/Source: China Chemical Industry News Date: June 28, 2018 Clicks: 91 At a symposium on innovation and entrepreneurship held by Yangmei Group on June 23, Chief Engineer Linghu Jianshe outlined seven technical challenges and needs related to safe chemical production, transformation and upgrading, as well as innovation-driven development. The group invited experts and engineering professionals from around the world to offer their insights and assist in overcoming these challenges. These seven technical challenges and requirements relate, first, to new energy-saving and environmental protection technologies for the coal chemical industry that meet the new energy conservation and environmental protection standards, particularly mature solutions for wastewater treatment, ensuring compliance with emission standards, and controlling unpleasant odors. The second is salt-containing wastewater treatment technology. Currently, wastewater treatment in chemical enterprises typically employs the evaporation-concentration-crystallization process to produce solid crystalline waste salts; this method is highly energy-intensive, and the large amount of saline wastewater generated during the process is difficult to treat. Third are the technologies for treating black water and fine ash from powder coal gasification, as well as the technologies for treating and utilizing gasification slag. Fourth, both the Jinhua furnace and the aerospace furnace use quenching processes, resulting in high concentrations of inorganic salts; how to address the problem of scaling in the ash water pipelines. Fifthly, in the process of producing ammonia from coke oven gas, the benzene content in the temperature-controlled adsorption system used for removing benzene and naphthalene from the coke oven gas exceeds the allowable limits; this leads to benzene crystallization at the bottom of the stripping tower in the low-temperature methanol washing unit, thereby preventing the ammonia synthesis system from operating stably over extended periods of time. Sixth, the catalysts used in the coal-based ethylene glycol production process have a short lifespan, so there is an urgent need to develop new types of catalysts. Seventh, the bed temperature of circulating fluidized bed boilers is relatively high; the designed bed temperature is 899°C, but the actual bed temperature during operation averages 950°C, which is 51°C higher than the design value. Prolonged operation at such high bed temperatures often leads to damage to the central cylinder of the boiler’s cyclone separator ； The expansion within the furnace’s screen pass and screen re-expansion sections is hindered, resulting in severe bending and deformation; this leads to increased wear on the walls of the screen pass and screen re-expansion tubes, thereby causing leakage faults in those areas. Zhai Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Yangquan Coal Group, pointed out that to overcome these seven technical challenges and meet the associated requirements, it is necessary to adopt a global perspective and an open mindset, and to bring together scientific and technological talents from across the country and even the world to work together in a complementary manner. It is hoped that Yangmei can serve as a technical testing ground and demonstration area, enabling it to truly become a hub for technical resources. He also said that enterprises serve as industrial platforms, capital platforms, and technology incubation platforms as well. The Yangquan Coal Chemical Industry Group will pursue development in an internationalized, large-scale, differentiated, and high-end manner, and will continue to focus on technological innovation in areas such as gasification, catalysis, intelligence, and the development of new products.
