Lianhong New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has maintained close cooperation with Zhengda Energy Materials (Dalian) Co., Ltd., the largest supplier of MTO catalysts in China. In October 2017, the company upgraded its existing 1 million tons per year MTO plant, and it was successfully put into operation on November 8; as a result, the annual methanol processing capacity increased to 1.3 million tons. After gaining a thorough understanding of the situation regarding the capacity expansion and renovation of the facilities, CP Energy’s technical team developed customized catalysts suitable for the new operating conditions resulting from the expansion, achieving excellent results. In 2019, building on its successful achievements in developing custom catalysts, Lianhong New Materials attempted to use the new MTO catalyst introduced by CP Energy. Through the joint efforts and close cooperation of technicians from both parties, the process parameters of the facility were adjusted and optimized, resulting in a steady reduction in the methanol consumption per unit of output, with new records being set on a monthly basis. As of July, the methanol consumption per unit of product in the plant’s monthly reports had decreased by approximately 0.07 compared to before the catalyst replacement. With an annual processing capacity of 1.3 million tons of methanol, this reduction allows for an increase in the production of diolefins (ethylene + propylene) by 10,000 tons. At the same time, the total liquid yield of the plant increases gradually, while the coking rate and alkane production decrease significantly. **This improves the economic efficiency of the MTO plant, resulting in additional annual earnings of over 60 million yuan! At present, new catalysts from Chia Tai Energy continue to be added to the facility, and as the proportion of these new catalysts within the facility increases, it is expected that the methanol consumption rate will continue to decrease further.
