The continuous operation of the gasifier in Phase 1 of the methanol BDO project at Xinjiang Guotai Xinhua has exceeded 150 days – Author/Source: Coal Chemistry News, Date: 2020-03-05, Clicks: 21. The continuous operation of Gasifier A in the gasification unit of this project has lasted over 150 days, which is 60 days longer than planned; this represents the best record since the project’s initial commissioning. In the face of fluctuations in coal quality, on-site staff intensified their inspection efforts, and the workshop actively communicated with the production department to increase the analysis of coal samples and gas components, ensuring timely adjustments and thus laying a solid foundation for the stable operation of the plant. Due to the design of the gasification furnace, which operates with two units without a backup unit, and because the slag removal machine was under maintenance, this workshop overcame various difficulties and took advantage of intermittent periods to carry out emergency maintenance on the slag removal machine on more than 10 occasions; in total, over 150 tons of slag were removed manually. Sometimes at two or three in the morning, maintenance staff are on call to respond immediately, so as not to disrupt production; while the maintenance crew works on repairs, the chemical plant workers on duty manually remove debris and dig ditches. Some employees were so tired that they could barely stand straight, and their clothes and work shoes were dirty; both managers and staff worked hard together to ensure the stable operation of the equipment. The Phase I methanol and BDO project of Xinjiang Guotai Xinhua has a total investment of 11.3 billion yuan and covers an area of 4,480 mu. Its main production facilities include: a methanol plant with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, a BDO plant with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, a PTMEG plant with an annual capacity of 60,000 tons, a calcium carbide plant with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, 2 × 350MW captive power plants, as well as various related utility and auxiliary facilities.
