On January 8, 2020, Inner Mongolia Jiu Tai New Materials, together with technical personnel from AECOM Ltd. in the UK and Hualu Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., held a review meeting for the detailed design of the methanol plant in Xi’an. Hao Xiaobin, assistant to the general manager of Jutai New Materials Company, attended the meeting, along with relevant technical staff. The meeting provided a detailed introduction to aspects such as the overview of the methanol plant project, the construction contents, the construction progress, and the project design plan. Patent holder Shangxin Wanfeng conducted a detailed discussion and review of the project’s important technical documents, drawings, and 3D models of the devices; it also clarified and improved various technical details related to the project’s implementation, while giving high praise to the current progress of the project and the management efforts in place. The JiuTai New Materials ethylene glycol production project has an annual capacity of 1 million tons of ethylene glycol. Located in the western area of the industrial park in Tuoketuo County, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia, the project uses coal as raw material and employs mature coal gasification technologies such as aerospace powder coal gasification and Shell pressure coal gasification, along with the world-leading formaldehyde hydroxymethylation process developed by Davy Company, to produce ethylene glycol. Inner Mongolia Joutai New Materials Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Joutai Group; it was established in March 2017. The company’s project for producing 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year is a **key innovation project in the field of new coal chemical technologies that is highly encouraged, and it is also a coal-based ethylene glycol project that receives strong support from Hohhot City. The total area covered by this facility is 2,565 mu, with a total investment of 13.3 billion yuan. Among them, Air Products Company of the United States (AP Company) invested 4.8 billion yuan to construct the air separation and gasification areas. The construction period for this project is 3 years; trial operation is planned for 2020, with full production starting in 2021. Once in operation, it is expected to generate annual sales of 10.6 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 3.66 billion yuan, playing a significant role in addressing the shortcomings in Hohhot’s industrial sector.
