On the morning of December 17, Henan Energy, in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, held a signing ceremony for such a joint R&D center. Liang Tieshan, chairman of Henan Energy, Duan Zhiguang, vice general manager, Yang Zhenbin, secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Huang Zhenchu*, dean of the Institute for Smart Energy Innovation and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the ceremony. The signing ceremony was presided over by Zhu Xinyuan, vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In his speech, Duan Zhiguang said that Henan Energy is pursuing scaled development, strategic site selection, centralized operation in industrial parks, and circular utilization, while accelerating innovation-driven progress and transformation and upgrading, with the aim of overcoming the key technical challenges in areas such as new chemical materials. Shanghai Jiao Tong University boasts advantages in technology and talent, while Henan Energy has strengths in resources and industry. The cooperation between the two sides represents a combination of strong entities; it is also an active effort to deepen reforms in the systems and mechanisms for scientific and technological research and development, as well as to promote the advancement of the energy and chemical industries toward higher levels of sophistication, diversity, and low carbon emissions. This partnership will surely move forward toward the goal of mutual benefit and shared success. In his speech, Huang Zhen extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the arrival of Liang Tieshan and his party. He said that Shanghai Jiao Tong University has strong academic strengths in the field of energy and chemical engineering, and the Institute for Smart Energy Innovation, as a platform for integrating industry and education, can provide robust support for talent development and scientific research in the energy sector. Faced with such a systematic and profound socio-economic transformation as the dual-carbon goal initiative, both parties have reached an agreement to work together on reducing carbon dioxide emissions, as well as on capturing and reusing this gas, by fostering the development of new technologies, processes, and products, so as to make the contributions that enterprises and universities should make toward achieving these dual-carbon objectives. Duan Zhiguang and Zhu Xinyuan signed the \"Cooperation Agreement on the Joint R&D Center for Low-Carbon Technologies between Henan Energy and Chemical Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Jiao Tong University\" on behalf of their respective parties. After the signing ceremony, Liang Tieshan and his party visited the School of Smart Energy Innovation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where they toured the exhibition hall featuring models of power generation equipment as well as the nuclear energy exhibition room. That afternoon, Liang Tieshan and his party made a special visit to the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where they had in-depth discussions with Wu Yingqiang, the Party secretary of the school, as well as various experts and professors, on past experiences of school-enterprise cooperation and ways in which the strengths of both sides could complement each other. Luo Zhenghong and He Yijun, deputy deans of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, attended the discussion.
