Xinjiang Tianye’s 1 million tons per year synthetic gas-based ethylene glycol production project is set to begin operation. Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum. Date: July 29, 2020. Clicks: 96. Recently, a mobilization meeting was held for the first phase of Xinjiang Tianye’s project, which involves the production of 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year, to arrange all the tasks necessary for starting up the plant. The participants were encouraged to keep working hard to ensure that the chemical processing steps are successful from the very first attempt. Song Xiaoling, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Tianye Group, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. At the mobilization meeting, Huang Zongqiu, the project site commander-in-chief, provided a detailed report on the project’s commissioning and startup process, and announced that the project was now ready for chemical feeding and operation. Song Xiaoling pointed out that Xinjiang Tianye’s project for producing 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year is at the leading level in the industry in terms of plant scale and process technology. It has also been comprehensively optimized in terms of safety, environmental protection, quality improvement, and intelligent control, laying a foundation for the future integrated development of industries within Tianye Group and the Shihu Tan New Materials Industrial Park. Song Xiaoling emphasized that the project preparation team should make full use of Xinjiang’s coal resource advantages, pursue bold exploration and continuous innovation. Focusing on the development of the \"carbon-based new materials\" industry, it should achieve a \"transformation of coal into high-value products,\" continuously extend the industrial chain, develop downstream industries and fine chemical products, optimize the regional layout, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the project. Song Xiaoling demanded that all constructors seize this crucial opportunity for the commissioning of the chemical plant, be eager to learn, vigorously promote the spirit of craftsmanship, and ensure that everyone can become a skilled craftsman ; Strictness must be the top priority; internal control management needs to be strengthened to ensure that no problems arise at any stage ; We must ensure thorough implementation and strive to excel in all aspects of work, working together to achieve a successful first start-up of the project and to enter a stable production phase smoothly. On July 4, 2020, at 0:52 a.m., the first ignition of Gasifier C in the 600,000 tons per year coal-to-ethylene glycol production project of the first phase of Xinjiang Tianye Huihe New Materials Co., Ltd. was successful. The first phase of Xinjiang Tianye Huihe New Materials Co., Ltd.’s 600,000 tons per year coal-to-ethylene glycol project utilizes the water-cooled wall waste boiler gasifier technology (Jinhua Furnace 3.0) developed by Beijing Qingchuang Jinhua Technology Co., Ltd. The gasification pressure is 6.2 MPaG, with each furnace producing 97,000 Nm3/h of useful gas (CO + H2); the gasification units are arranged in a configuration of three in operation and one as backup. Donghua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. is responsible for the engineering design. On the morning of June 9, steam was introduced to the evaporation and crystallization unit of the water system in the EPC phase of Xinjiang Tianye’s 600,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production project. The completion of this step marked the official entry of the evaporation and crystallization unit into the thermal load testing phase, completing all the preparatory work prior to its official commissioning. On October 13, 2017, Xinjiang Tianye Huihe New Materials Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Yangmei Chemical Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for the \"Four sets of Jinhua Furnace 3.0\" in a temporary conference room at the construction site of the 600,000-ton-per-year ethylene glycol production unit as part of Tianye Huihe’s 1 million tons per year synthetic gas-to-ethylene glycol project, located in the Shihu Tan New Materials Industrial Park of Regiment 147 in Shihezi, Xinjiang. Xinjiang Tianye Huihe New Materials Co., Ltd. has an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of ethylene glycol from syngas, and its core manufacturing process makes use of patented technology for producing ethylene glycol from high-purity syngas. The first-phase project, a 600,000 tons per year facility for producing ethylene glycol from syngas, is located in the Shihu Tan New Materials Industrial Park, Group 147, Shihezi City, in the Eighth Division. It is the first project to be developed in this industrial park. The project covers an area of 2,200 mu, with a total investment of 7.99 billion yuan. It represents a new starting point for Xinjiang Tianye Group as it strives to pursue further development and achieve a value of 100 billion yuan for the company. Construction of the first phase began in August 2017. In October 2017, the project’s gasification technology division entered into a contract with Shanxi Yangmei Chemical Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. for four sets of 6.5MPa Jinhua furnaces model 3.0. As a key project at the corps level, the Shihu Tan New Materials Industrial Park is planned to cover an area of 9.98 square kilometers, with an investment of around 70 billion yuan. Tianye Group is responsible for its planning and construction. The first phase of the project, which involves the production of 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol, along with some supporting infrastructure in the park, began construction in August 2017; completion and operation of this phase are scheduled for the end of 2019. As planned, once the 600,000-ton dialcohol project in the first phase of the park is completed, subsequent projects such as coal-based ethanol and related new material initiatives, as well as polyester production and its associated upstream and downstream projects, will be carried out in sequence and developed in a coordinated manner. It is understood that the project will enter the phase of large-scale installation in mid-May this year, and will be fully completed and put into operation by the end of the year, with an estimated annual output value of 4.2 billion yuan.
