Latest Progress on Inner Mongolia JiuTai New Materials’ 1 million-ton coal-based ethylene glycol project Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals Date: June 10, 2020 Clicks: 8 At 10:18 a.m. on June 9, the first large-scale equipment for Inner Mongolia JiuTai New Materials’ project to produce 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year, which is under EPCM contracting by Hualu Technology, was lifted into place – specifically the “crude methanol discharge tank” used in the methanol production process. It was successfully installed at 10:50 a.m., marking the official start of the installation of large-scale equipment for this project. It is reported that the process equipment for this project is the first of its kind in the world. Since work began on March 1, 2019, the ethylene glycol production unit of Inner Mongolia Jiu Tai New Materials has overcome various difficulties through the joint efforts of all parties involved. Especially since the outbreak of the pandemic, the unit has strictly followed the requirements set by the group company and the firm to focus on both epidemic prevention and control and the resumption of production. By ensuring that epidemic prevention measures were properly implemented, the unit was able to advance the resumption of production in an orderly manner, thereby creating favorable conditions for the lifting of the first large-scale piece of equipment. To date, the utility tunnels and sulfur recovery units across the project site have taken initial shape; the civil engineering work for the methanol plant is in its final stages, with the installation work having officially commenced. The main units and auxiliary facilities in the ethylene glycol plant area will also begin construction sequentially. On June 3, the steel structure modules of the gasification unit for the large-scale gas island project at Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials, constructed by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Sixth Construction Co., Ltd., were successfully lifted into place. Liuhua Jian undertook the civil engineering and installation work for Jiutai’s large-scale gasification plant. The gasification frame is the key main structure of Jutai’s large-scale gasification units; it houses major core equipment such as the gasification furnace, coal powder feeding tank, and slag discharging tank. A 750-ton crawler crane was used for lifting; the total weight of the steel structure module is 96 tons, its height is 11 meters, and the lifting height of the crane reaches 90 meters. This lifting operation was the first time that LiuHuaJian assembled the main steel structure into modules on the ground before lifting it; the precise alignment during installation demonstrated LiuHuaJian’s excellent installation skills. The successful lifting marks an important step forward in the installation of the project’s steel structure, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of equipment and pipelines for the gasification unit. On May 26, the aerospace-type powder gasifier for Jutai’s 1 million-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol project was successfully lifted into place, marking the full entry of the gasification unit area into the equipment installation phase. The space powder gasifier is the core of the gasification system; it can handle 2,000 tons of coal per day and produce 125,000 standard cubic meters of useful gas per hour. Together with the AP-SHELL powder gasifier, it will supply the basic useful gas needed for production throughout the entire plant area. The gasification unit area is one of the core units in Jutai’s 1 million-ton ethylene glycol project; work there has progressed rapidly since resumption, and meanwhile, various large-scale equipment for this project has arrived one after another.
