Dolun Coal Chemical’s Gasification Unit Achieves Another Record for Continuous Operation at Grade A Author/Source: SinoNew Energy Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. Date: 2020-03-31 Clicks: 132 On March 17, Dolun Company’s No. 2 gasification unit reached a continuous operation period of over 150 days at Grade A. As of the date of publication (March 25), it had been operating at high load for 158 consecutive days, setting a new record for Class A operation of the company’s gasification unit. Learning has improved management levels. To address the leakage issues that hindered the stable operation of the gasification unit, particularly the frequent erosion-related leaks in the cyclone separator (S-1511), the methanol center, through data collection and thorough calculations, and under the guidance of the Quality and Technology Department, took the lead in modifying Unit 2 for gasification dust removal. The cyclone separator (S-1511) was removed, and synthetic gas dust removal was carried out solely using a high-temperature, high-pressure fly ash filter (S-1501). It has proven that this technical upgrade was highly successful, laying a solid foundation for the long-term operation of Unit 2 gasification plant. To address the issue of insufficient automation in the powder handling process, process engineers and instrument control specialists from the coal gasification team worked together to optimize the sequential control system. After the technical upgrades, the material feeding and ash removal processes have largely been freed from manual intervention, thereby minimizing the rate of human errors. As a precision device, coal linear velocity meters could only be obtained through imports in the past. Thanks to the efforts of the Electrical and Instrumentation Center, the 2# coal gasification unit was the first to adopt domestically produced coal linear velocity meters. This not only significantly shortened the equipment procurement timeline and reduced procurement costs, but the domestic velocity meters can also be used for density measurement, achieving multiple benefits at once. As the pandemic progressed, Dorun Company activated its Emergency Plan for Production and Operations during Pandemic Control and implemented \"closed\" management. The company’s employees and staff remained at the site 24/7. This \"war-time mindset\" not only ensured smoother coordination of various tasks but also forged a workforce capable of taking on tough challenges and achieving success. In the early hours of February 24th, faced with the sudden failure of the slag breaking machine in the slag removal unit of Unit 2 gasification plant, the on-duty staff promptly determined that there was a blockage of slag above the machine; if this issue wasn’t resolved quickly, the gasification furnace might have to be shut down. The control room staff and those on-site took immediate action; by working together with their excellent skill levels, they managed to resolve the issue within just 20 minutes. A heavy snowfall at the beginning of March caused a sudden increase in the moisture content of the raw coal, leading to frequent blockages in the bottom cone of the coal crushing bin in the gasification unit. Once again, it was the on-site operators who stepped forward first. They used the most primitive and effective methods – poking with iron rods and hitting with hammers – and no one complained of fatigue, even though sweat mixed with coal dust wetted their cheeks. In the end, the gasification unit successfully got through the difficult period.
