Sinochem’s Decarbonization Technologies for Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Author/Source: Sinochem News Network Date: 2020-08-03 Clicks: 1 To date, the patented technology \"Solvents and processes for separating carbon dioxide from gas mixtures\" developed by Sinochem Research Institute Co., Ltd. has been applied in 50 enterprises, with another 15 units under design or construction. This technology has developed decarboxylation solvents and associated process technologies with independent intellectual property rights, addressing the common and critical technical challenges in the field of decarboxylation of mixtures with a carbon dioxide partial pressure of 0.1–0.25 MPa; it can be applied to syngas decarboxylation, catalytic dry gas decarboxylation in refineries, and natural gas decarboxylation. As evaluated by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, compared with similar domestic natural gas decarbonization systems, this technology features a solution absorption capacity that is over 50% higher, along with a reduction in energy consumption per unit of output of over 25%. Its patented NCMA decarboxylation solvent has been used in a total of 50 enterprises, holding a market share of over 90% in the field of dry gas decarboxylation in refineries, and over 30% in other related fields. This patented technology has been applied to 27 syngas decarboxylation units such as those at Mengjin Fertilizer Plant, 19 natural gas decarboxylation units such as those at Songnan Gas Field, and 4 integrated refining and petrochemical dry gas decarboxylation units such as those at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. Among them, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical’s 160,000 tons per year catalytic desulfurization and dry gas decarbonization unit saves 8,800 tons of steam, 1,000 tons of demineralized water, and 168,000 kWh of electricity per year.
