Date: 2020-09-11 Clicks: 10 Recently, the distillation unit for BDO production, as part of the project for recycling associated gas resources at the Yanchang Oilfield, which was designed by the Xi’an branch of Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully commissioned, producing qualified BDO products. The project team worked day and night, staying alongside the testing process; for each step, process calculations had to be carried out first, with the results guiding the on-site operations. By analyzing the medium temperature, pressure, and the flow pattern at the outlet of the throttling orifice plate behind the reboiler, and by using differential pressure and current methods to determine the flow rate, the feed flow rate to the reboiler was determined. The rate of temperature rise was strictly controlled to enable the fluid to transition smoothly from plug flow to plug-like flow, thereby achieving an ideal stable annular flow. Thanks to the overall efforts of the project, the entire process was successfully completed, yielding BDO products with a purity of 99.89 wt%, whose quality exceeds the standards for top-grade products; this marks the successful commissioning of the distillation unit in the BDO plant.
