The 126-meter chimney for Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd.’s 400,000 tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production project was successfully completed. On September 8, the 126-meter chimney for this project, constructed by the Ningxia branch of China National Third Construction Engineering Company, was finally completed. Since the start of chimney construction on June 1, the Ningxia Kunpeng project team, together with Company 1 for construction work and the subcontractors involved, has overcome various uncontrollable factors such as delayed supply of concrete provided by the client, frequent strong winds, and the pandemic. They have carefully organized everything, and developed scientific plans and schedules. After 100 days of intensive construction, the project team successfully met the scheduled goals with high quality, and the quality of the chimney structure met the required standards. The 400,000-ton per year coal-to-ethylene glycol production project of Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd. is one of the key projects in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base. Located in the chemical new materials park of this base, the project has a total investment of 4.33 billion yuan. It uses coal as raw material to produce syngas, which is then used to manufacture products such as ethylene glycol, glycol ethers, and hydrogen. The main construction components include 10 core production units for gasification, shift reaction and heat recovery, low-temperature methanol washing, PSA hydrogen production, deep cryogenic separation of CO, glycol ether production, sulfur recovery, and ethylene glycol production; in addition, auxiliary facilities such as circulating water systems, sewage treatment plants, tank areas, loading/unloading facilities, and flares are also built as part of the project. The entire process is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2021. The ethylene glycol plant uses a process for producing ethylene glycol from high-purity chemical synthesis gas, while the gasification plant employs the Shenning coal gasification process. Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd. was established in August 2018 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ningxia Baoli New Energy. With a registered capital of 1.5 billion yuan, it is a key enterprise focused on the production of clean energy in the Ningdong area. The company collaborates with Ningdong Investment Company (which contributes 30% of the capital) to build a project that produces 400,000 tons of coal-based ethylene glycol per year.
