Ma Xiaohua, the department’s chief engineer, led technicians Shao Yingxia and Zhang Guifang to the testing center at Zhejiang Zhongkong Technology Industrial Park to carry out FTA (Factory Acceptance Test) procedures for the SIS system. It is reported that the SIS system currently in use in the company’s first-phase ammonia synthesis plant has been in operation for 12 years; its performance has declined. The key issue is that this SIS does not have the capability to process analog signals – all such signals are first processed by the DCS before being sent to the SIS for logical processing, which does not meet the requirements regarding the independence of the SIS system. To meet higher standards and fulfill the requirements of **Grade 1 safety standardization enterprises, this department plans to carry out a project to upgrade the safety instrumented system SIS in the plants during this year’s major maintenance period, equipping plants for synthesis, gasification, sulfur recovery, etc., with independent safety instrumented systems SIS.
