International bidding session for the process packages of Datong Coal Mine Group Co., Ltd.’s new olefin production project held Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemical Industry Date: 2019-06-11 Clicks: 5 On June 4, an international bidding session was held in Beijing for the process packages of Datong Coal Mine Group Co., Ltd.’s new project aimed at producing 600,000 tons of olefins per year; bids were solicited for five different process packages related to the production of olefins from methanol, olefin separation, and the conversion of butenes into propylene, polyethylene, and polypropylene. The proprietary methanol-to-olefins technology (DMTO) from the Dalian Institute of Physical Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the bid thanks to its advantages of optimal technology, lowest consumption, and the best performance. It marks the first achievement of the \"Datong Coal-Based Clean Energy Comprehensive Development Strategy Alliance\" formed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Datong City, and Datong Coal Group. The win of the bid for the methanol-to-olefins process package in the Tongmei Olefins project has laid a foundation for further deepening cooperation and exchanges within the \"Datong Coal-Based Clean Energy Comprehensive Development Strategic Alliance\". The 600,000-ton per year olefin production project of Tongmei Group officially commenced construction on March 19, 2019. It represents the largest-scale, most technologically advanced, and cleanest and most efficient strategic modern coal chemical project that Tongmei Group has invested in in recent years; completion and operation are expected within 33 months. Upon completion, the project will effectively improve the clean and efficient utilization of coal resources as well as the added value of the products, generating annual profits and taxes amounting to 1.4 billion yuan. In 2019, Tongmei Group will carry out 50 major new construction and transformation projects with a total investment of 118.8 billion yuan; once these projects come online, they are expected to generate an additional annual output value of over 140 billion yuan. Efforts will be focused on launching the three major coal chemical projects operated by CNOOC, namely coal-to-gas, coal-to-olefins, and coal-to-hydrogen, thus ushering in a new era of shifting from fuel coal to raw material coal. Among these is the promotion of the 600,000-ton coal-to-olefins project by Tongmei; construction commenced in full in March, with some of the main works to be completed within this year ； CNOOC’s project to produce 4 billion cubic meters of coal-based natural gas per year aims to start construction in the first half of the year.
