All 12 synthesis towers for the ethylene glycol production facility at Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical have been delivered for on-site installation. On December 22, the last ethylene glycol synthesis tower was successfully transported out of the factory where such oversized equipment is manufactured, marking the completion of production of all 12 such towers – the largest in terms of weight, wall thickness, and outer diameter – which have now been delivered for on-site installation. It has an outer diameter of 6420 mm and a wall thickness of 110 mm, and it consists of 16,054 heat exchange tubes. Processes such as the tube welding of this equipment, the welding of the shell seams, heat treatment, and pressure testing are all carried out on-site in the factory designated for the manufacture of oversized equipment. It is reported that the synthesis tower is the core equipment for the ethylene glycol project. Its timely delivery and installation have provided a solid guarantee for the overall installation schedule of this project, and have also laid a firm foundation for the successful achievement of the company’s “21630” goals.
On March 29, the spherical head and shell-side cylinder of the ethylene glycol synthesis tower – the key oversized equipment for the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol production unit in Phase 1 of the Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical’s project on the selective utilization of coal to produce new chemical materials – was successfully transported to the large-scale equipment assembly and welding facility at the project site, marking the entry of this project’s equipment into the phase of on-site assembly and manufacturing. The ethylene glycol synthesis tower for oversized equipment was manufactured by Zhanghua Machinery (Suzhou) Refitting Co., Ltd. What is being installed this time are the spherical head SR3114×75 beneath the ethylene glycol synthesis tower, as well as the shell-side cylinder IDN6200×110×2632. There are two heads in total, one at the top and one at the bottom; each head weighs 45 tons and is composed of 8 segment pieces and 3 end rings ； The shell side single-section cylinder is divided into 2 pieces, with a thickness of 110 mm. All the equipment delivered to the site is pre-fabricated and pre-assembled by the manufacturer to meet the required standards, before being transported to the large-scale assembly and welding facility at the project site for further assembly and welding. Next, Jiangsu Yongda Chemical Machinery Co., Ltd., Lanzhou Lanshi Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd., and Xi’an Nuclear Equipment Co., Ltd. will also move into the company’s large-scale equipment welding and assembly plant one after another to begin the intensive work of equipment manufacturing. It is understood that the synthetic towers for Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Company’s 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol production project are equipped with 12 units, each with a diameter of 6,200 mm and a length of 15 meters. These towers consist of end caps, shell-section cylinders, tube sheets, and heat exchange tubes, and the weight of each unit is 389 tons. The tube sheet of this equipment has a diameter of 6400 mm and a thickness of 220 mm; the weight of a single piece of this tube sheet is 110 tons, which sets a record for the largest tube sheet of its kind in China. Additionally, the 16,055 heat exchange tube holes on the tube sheet were all manufactured using large-depth hole drilling machines, with the processing equipment and techniques employed reaching the highest standards in China.
