The topping-out of a key unit in the Jinhua Chemical’s 39,000 Nm3 air separation technology renovation project using Jinhua Furnace 3.0 / Author/Source: Gasification World / Date: July 20, 2021 / Clicks: 4. At 5 p.m. on July 15, with the last batch of C30 ready-mixed concrete for the cooling tower roof successfully placed in place, the main structure of the cooling tower for this high-risk and large-scale project, which is being undertaken by Donghua Technology as the general contractor, was completed. This marks the entry into the final stages of construction for the entire circulation water system, creating the conditions necessary for subsequent water filling tests, equipment and pipeline installation, and the timely completion of the project. The air separation unit of this project consists of a separately installed circulating water system. The cooling tower in this circulating water system is of the mechanically ventilated type; it has a reinforced concrete frame structure. The main building has 4 floors, is 51.8 meters long, 16.6 meters wide, and 15.2 meters high. At the bottom of the cooling tower there is a cooling water tank with a height of 3.2 meters, which is connected to a water intake tank that is 25 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, and 4.6 meters high. Project Overview: The synthetic ammonia feedstock route and energy-saving/emission-reduction technology renovation project of Zhejiang Jinju Chemical utilizes the water-cooled wall waste boiler gasifier technology (Jinhua Furnace 3.0) developed by Beijing Qingchuang Jinhua Technology Co., Ltd. The gasification unit is designed as a dual-unit setup without a backup unit; the gasification pressure is 6.5 MPaG, and the volume of syngas produced is 94,000 Nm3/h (CO + H2). The water-cooled wall direct-connected waste-heat boiler gasifier (Jinhua Furnace 3.0) for coal water slurry replaces the existing batch fixed-bed gasifiers and low-pressure refractory brick quenched gasifiers. Production is scheduled to begin in 2021. On December 10, the model review was completed for the technical renovation project of Jinju Chemical’s 39,000 Nm3 air separation unit, which utilizes Jinhua Furnace 3.0. On November 7, the two molecular sieve adsorbers, which are part of the large-scale equipment for Zhejiang Jinju’s 39,000 Nm3 air separation project, were successfully installed. On November 3, the construction of the main cooling tank was completed, and on November 1, the air cooling towers and water cooling towers were successfully installed as well. Project Progress: In December 2019, the technical renovation project for the 39,000 Nm3/h air separation unit at Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd. commenced. The air separation technical renovation project serves as a supporting project for the ammonia synthesis technical renovation project. The proposed site is located to the south of the existing fertilizer facilities within the Juhua industrial park. The project covers an area of approximately 2.65 hectares and is primarily intended to supply oxygen required for coal-water slurry gasification, as well as nitrogen, instrument air, compressed air, etc., for the entire plant. The project is planned to produce 39,000 Nm3/h of oxygen and 45,500 Nm3/h of nitrogen. The product plan is 259.032 million Nm3 of nitrogen per year, 282.632 million Nm3 of oxygen per year, and 5,703 tons of liquid argon per year. The process production facilities include a compression plant, an air separation unit, a backup liquid storage unit, etc., as well as utility and auxiliary facilities. In September 2019, Donghua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. signed an EPC general contract for the technical renovation project of an air separation unit with a capacity of 39,000 Nm3/h with Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd. The air separation technology renovation project includes the air separation units and circulating water stations that support Jinju Chemical Company’s synthetic ammonia feedstock route and energy-saving and emission-reduction technology renovation projects, as well as the associated utility systems and auxiliary facilities; the contract duration is 23 months. Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd. was formerly the ammonia synthesis plant of Zhejiang Juhua Co., Ltd. It is a key listed company focused on the production of fertilizers, chemical raw materials, and fine chemical products, and serves as an important fertilizer production base in Zhejiang Province. The air separation technology renovation project includes the air separation unit and circulating water station that support Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd.’s ammonia synthesis feedstock route and energy-saving and emission-reduction technology renovation projects, as well as the associated utility systems and auxiliary facilities; the contract duration is 23 months. Donghua Technology is responsible for the EPC general contracting of the technical renovation project for the air separation unit at Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 39,000 Nm3/h; the contract value is 262 million yuan.
