From October 26th to 27th, a briefing session on the detailed design of the syngas system, auxiliary systems, and the area in front of the plant for the 400,000-ton/year ethylene glycol production unit as part of the first phase of the 1.2 million-ton/year coal-to-ethylene glycol project at Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group’s Shaanxi Yueneng Chemical Materials Co., Ltd., was held. China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., China National Chemical 14th Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Construction Installation Group No. 9 Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Petrochemical Fangcheng Supervision and Construction Co., Ltd. attended the meeting, which was chaired by Wang Wuping, the chief engineer of Yueneng Chemical Company. At the meeting, Li Zhengang, the deputy general manager of Yueneng Chemical, provided a detailed overview of the progress of the project construction, while China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. gave a comprehensive report on the detailed design of the syngas system, auxiliary systems, and the area in front of the factory for the ethylene glycol project. The participants, organized by specialties such as environment, architecture, structure, fire protection, HVAC, and piping, provided thorough and detailed explanations regarding the project’s professional design, documentation, precautions, as well as the issues encountered during on-site construction, thereby further enhancing everyone’s understanding of the importance of construction techniques and project quality. The meeting emphasized the need to implement the technical plans in every aspect of the construction process, to manage things meticulously, to strengthen process control, and to reduce rework, so as to ensure that the ethylene glycol project of Yueneng Chemical Company is completed safely, with high quality, and on schedule. The first phase of the project to produce 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol as part of Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd.’s 1.2 million tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production capacity, is a project that marks the start of operations at the coal-based clean fuel and high-end chemical materials manufacturing bases located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. The total planned land area for this project is 1,711 mu, with an investment of nearly 6 billion yuan required; the construction period is expected to be 30 months, and completion and operation are scheduled for June 2022. The project construction includes a gasification unit, a purification unit, an H2/CO separation unit, an ethylene glycol unit, etc. The utility systems and supporting auxiliary facilities include: 3×350t/h high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers + 2×30MW back-pressure steam turbine generator sets, air separation units, circulating water stations, desalination stations, storage and transportation facilities, sewage treatment plants, etc. The gasification unit employs the Collin powder coal gasification technology and includes 2 powder coal gasifiers ； The ethylene glycol plant utilizes Zhongke Yuandong’s ethylene glycol technology.
