In order to better cool the heat exchange equipment used in ammonia-carbon separation and the urea production process, where high temperatures occur, and to increase the production capacity thereby ensuring high-quality and high-yield production of triamine urea, construction has started on this project to add packing to the circulating water cooling tower in the utility plant’s Phase II – a project that was planned to be carried out in low-temperature conditions as temperatures dropped. As the saying goes, a victorious general never engages in a battle without preparation. Starting from the time the filler was in place, the utility workshop became busy; everything from preparing the necessary tools, to manufacturing the molds, to lifting the prefabricated steel components for the cooling tower, was carried out according to plan. To save time, the technicians need to manually glue the filler layers one by one before the frame is fully welded, then connect these filler layers together and install them on the frame that has been welded in advance. During the bonding process, the staff need to adjust the direction while ensuring that the filler layer is bonded firmly. Glue has a somewhat pungent odor and is corrosive; if it gets on the hands by accident, it is difficult to remove. For colleagues with sensitive skin, it can even cause peeling of the palms, which is why everyone is extremely careful when applying the filler layer. Since the filler layer is not bonded very frequently, some colleagues are a bit inexperienced at doing this task; coupled with a shortage of staff, it was necessary to have the day shift workers work overtime. Although their break time was taken, no one complained; instead, they poured even more enthusiasm into their work. With the on-site guidance of the workshop supervisors, the work progressed smoothly, and there was a noticeable improvement in both the speed and quality of bonding, as well as in the skill level of those performing the bonding tasks. To date, the renovation of Tower No. 1 has been completed.
