Seminar on Advancing the Coal-Based High-Performance New Materials Project of Xin Hengsheng Company Held Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum Date: 2021-11-30 Clicks: 25 On November 18, a seminar on advancing the coal-based high-performance new materials project of Jiangsu JinKong Equipment Xin Hengsheng Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xin Hengsheng Company) was held at Huisheng Engineering Company in Shanghai. The main task of the meeting is to implement carbon-reduction measures and reduce energy consumption intensity. Efforts will be made to fulfill the overall requirements set forth by Xinyi City, which call for cooperation with Zhongxin Steel to develop high-end new material products and establish an integrated circular industrial park for steel processing, with the aim of seeing such a park come into existence as soon as possible. Cheng Feng, a member of the Party Working Committee of Xinyi Economic Development Zone; Sun Cunting, director of the Chemical Industry Park Office; Yang Qi, director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau; and expert Chu Kejia were among the leaders invited to attend the meeting. Xue Zhen, secretary of the Party Committee of Hengsheng Company; Li Liansheng, chairman of Xinhengsheng Company; Zeng Xuanjun, assistant to the chairman; Guo Tiejun, deputy general manager; Xu Zuoying, assistant to the general manager; and Chen Xin, director of the office, also attended the meeting. At the meeting, Xu Wei and Yang Ziwei, the persons in charge of projects at Huisheng Company, reported on the main contents of the feasibility study and the details of the product plans. They emphasized that the Phase II project of Xin Hengsheng aims to utilize the syngas, liquid ammonia, urea produced in Phase I, as well as the blast furnace gas or converter gas from Zhongxin Steel, and to use the CO gas present in these substances to develop high-end new material products, thereby reducing carbon emissions and extending the industrial chain. Taking into account factors such as domestic and international markets, the utilization of park resources, **industrial policies, and the expansion of industrial chains, Li Yansheng, assistant to the president of Huisheng Engineering and its chief scientist, provided a detailed analysis of New Hengsheng’s future product plans and development directions. He also proposed technical solutions for high-quality products such as melamine, melamine resin, dimethyl carbonate (DMC), dimethyl oxalate (DMO), polyglycolic acid (PGA), ethylene glycol, and oxamide. By leveraging Huisheng’s extensive engineering experience and patented technologies, it is possible to achieve lower carbon emissions, develop green and high-end products, and reduce energy consumption per unit of GDP. The investment for the second phase is estimated at around 7 billion yuan, with an annual output value of up to 9 billion yuan, bringing significant social benefits. Cheng Feng, a member of the Party Working Committee of the Economic Development Zone, said in his speech that for the development of modern coal chemical industry, it is necessary to strengthen technological innovation, promote the advancement and higher value addition of coal chemical products, extend the industrial chain, and enhance the value chain. He highly praised New Hengsheng’s overall perspective and sense of innovation, urging that all efforts related to the coal-based high-performance new materials project be carried out as soon as possible, so as to accelerate the establishment of a circular economy industrial park integrating steel (iron) production. Next, the Economic Development Zone will actively cooperate in facilitating the progress of the project, thereby supporting the creation of a model industrial park. Chairman Li Liansheng emphasized that the coal chemical industry has now entered a new stage of development. Xin Hengsheng’s strategy is to be driven by innovation, and by developing cleaner, higher-quality, and differentiated products, it aims to promote the green and low-carbon transformation as well as high-quality development of the modern coal chemical industry. We must think ahead, further refine and optimize our product offerings. We should not be confined to the characteristics of products in existing markets; instead, we need to conduct forward-looking analyses and assessments of the entire new energy industry, including the demands and requirements for future products. The steady progress of Phase 1 project construction serves as an effective vehicle and important foundation for the company’s development, while Phase 2 project construction is essential for the company’s transformation and upgrading as well as the improvement of its efficiency; it represents an inevitable choice and a necessary path for growth and expansion. It is hoped that the **department can assist Xin Hengsheng in facilitating information exchange among enterprises within the park, and provide certain policy support and guidance, so as to establish a sound cooperation mechanism. The meeting held that this plan generally meets the current project planning requirements for integrated steel production, it changes the situation of low added value associated with agricultural basic products such as ammonia and urea in the past, and can be integrated into Xinyi City’s overall plan for developing a circular economy in its industrial parks
