It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the listed company Sichuan Meifeng Chemical Co., Ltd., and constitutes one of the key production bases of that company. Currently, there is one ammonia synthesis plant with an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons using natural gas as raw material, one urea plant with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons, one nitric acid plant with an annual capacity of 180,000 tons, one phosgene plant with an annual capacity of 240,000 tons, one melamine plant with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons, and two nitro compound fertilizer plants with an annual capacity of 225,000 tons each. All units are currently operating safely and stably. II. Greenhouse Gas Emission Data Greenhouse gas emissions are calculated on a corporate basis, in accordance with the \"Methods and Reporting Requirements for Greenhouse Gas Accounting in Chemical Enterprises\". According to the calculations, our organization’s total greenhouse gas emissions in 2020 amounted to 823,100 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (of which 121,200 tons were due to fossil fuel emissions). III. Actions for Controlling Greenhouse Gas Emissions(1) Main measures for carbon reduction and carbon sink enhancement
Our company strictly adheres to the “Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand” initiative for key energy-consuming entities in Sichuan Province, as well as the dual control targets regarding energy consumption for “Ten Thousand” key energy-consuming units. We strive to control the total energy consumption and achieve energy conservation goals. Through technological upgrades, we aim to reduce electricity consumption, recover low-pressure steam, and cut down on nitrogen oxide emissions. Specific technological improvements include utilizing the potential energy of recycled water to drive the fans of cooling towers, thereby replacing conventional motors; installing steam ejectors to recover low-pressure steam that would otherwise be vented; modifying combustion systems to lower nitrogen oxide emissions from the tail gases of triamine molten salt furnaces; and adding equipment and catalysts for ammonia reduction reactions to minimize nitrogen oxide emissions in exhaust gases from nitric acid production. Additionally, our company is currently gathering information and learning about carbon reduction and sequestration technologies that can be applied to us. (II) Application of energy-saving and low-carbon production processes and technologies: Our company plans to use new types of energy-saving coatings on the furnace walls of the first-stage converter in the ammonia synthesis plant, in order to reduce fuel consumption in the form of natural gas and thereby cut carbon emissions. (III) Status of energy-saving and low-carbon products and energy management system certification: Our company does not currently have any energy-saving and low-carbon products, nor has it applied for an energy management system certification. (IV) Carbon asset development and participation in carbon emission rights trading: Our company has signed a preliminary contract for CDM development with South Korea’s ECOPRO Co., Ltd.; however, this project has been put on hold due to the pandemic, and it will be resumed at an appropriate time. Assign dedicated personnel to learn and master the knowledge related to carbon emission trading. (V) Climate investment and financing as well as carbon finance: Our company has not yet carried out any related activities. (VI) Capacity building: Our company has formulated and established comprehensive rules and regulations for controlling greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with relevant policies and regulations. We have appointed part-time personnel to manage greenhouse gas emissions. We also organize staff to participate in training related to carbon accounting, carbon emission reduction, and carbon trading. Furthermore, we have sent employees to attend the training for Electric and Carbon Trading Managers organized by the Talent Strategy Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Management Science. Upon successful completion of the training, they have obtained the professional competency certificate as Electric and Carbon Trading Managers. (VII) Others: None. December 15, 2021
