Recently, the upper section of the shift gas scrubber tower (1401-T-001) in the purification unit of Yushen Energy Chemical’s 500,000 tons/year coal-based ethanol project was successfully installed in place. It is understood that the shift gas scrubber is the largest equipment in the methanol complex, with a total height of 86.3 meters and a net weight of 523 tons. The upper section of the device to be lifted this time is 14.3 meters high, 3.6 meters in diameter, and weighs approximately 86 tons. The lifting is carried out using an 800-ton crawler crane as the main lifting device and a 260-ton crawler crane for assisting with the lift. To date, all 9 towers in the main process flow of the purification unit have been hoisted into place, laying a solid foundation for subsequent installation and welding work. The Yushen 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project is currently the largest project in the industrialization of coal-based ethanol technology. With a total investment of 6.98 billion yuan, it is located in the South Area of Qingshui Industrial Park within the Yushen Industrial Park in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. The project covers an area of 1,365 mu, and it utilizes coal-to-ethanol technology that was jointly developed by Yanchang Petroleum and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, and for which independent intellectual property rights exist. The project is scheduled to be fully handed over on May 30, 2022. The construction scope includes a methanol complex (units such as coal unloading and storage facilities, gasification units, shift conversion units, purification units, gas separation units, methanol production units, and sulfur treatment units), an ethanol production facility (units such as dimethyl ether production units, carbonylation units, hydrogenation units, separation units, compression units, heating furnaces, and refrigeration stations), as well as new facilities for utility systems such as separation, compression, heating furnaces, and refrigeration stations. The design capacity is 1.22 million tons of coal to be converted per year. Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (Beiyou Engineering) has been assigned a total EPC contract value of 3.78 billion yuan, covering auxiliary facilities and plant-wide system projects, as well as process units and water treatment systems; it is also responsible for providing overall project management services for this initiative. As the general contractor for the gasification unit EPc of this project, Aerospace Engineering Company signed a general contract with Yushen Energy Chemical Company worth 590 million yuan; the project utilizes two 2,000-ton-class aerospace furnaces.
