The #1 gas blower in Workshop 1 of Shanxi Coking Chemical Industry has been completely upgraded. Author/Source: Shanxi Coking Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. Date: 2022-04-01. Clicks: 10. A gas blower is a specialized power device used for transporting gas during the purification process of coke ovens; it serves as the “heart” of the chemical production system. Equipped with a prime mover capable of producing 710 KW of power, its main shaft can rotate at 5629 r/min. It belongs to the category of high-pressure equipment in Workshop 1 for chemical production. If it stops operating, it will not only disrupt the normal production processes in the coke ovens and other chemical production units but also result in an imbalance in the flow of 700,000 tons of gas. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that this equipment operates continuously around the clock. However, according to statistics, it consumes around 17% of the total electricity used in the workshop each day. In response to the calls for energy conservation and in line with the company’s goals of reducing energy consumption, Workshop 1 for chemical production actively communicated and coordinated with the company. With support from various parties, it successfully completed the frequency conversion energy-saving renovation project for the No. 1 gas blower, and its performance is currently excellent. In this project for frequency conversion-based energy conservation改造 of the No. 1 gas blower, a Siemens air-cooled 6SR5502-4MB41-OBF1 frequency converter was utilized. By removing the existing plate heat exchanger and hydraulic coupling, and installing a carbon fiber shaft along with its protective cover, the frequency converter was used to regulate operating conditions in place of the original hydraulic coupling. This setup enabled automatic control of the gas blower’s airflow. As a result, the problem of “using an oversized motor for a light load” was resolved; the motor load could now be adjusted variably to regulate airflow automatically. This not only met production requirements, but also achieved the goals of energy conservation, reduced power consumption, and extended the service life of the equipment. Based on the current production load, approximately 2,700 kWh of electricity can be saved per day. On a conservative estimate, this amounts to over 1 million kWh of electricity saved annually, resulting in cost savings of nearly 600,000 yuan in electricity costs each year. At the same time, the vibration of the rear axle during operation was also significantly reduced, and the operational performance met the expected standards. Since its commissioning on March 11, the frequency conversion energy-saving renovation project for the No. 1 gas blower has been operating well, achieving significant power savings. In the future, the workshop will continue to deepen its exploration of variable-frequency gas blowers, accumulate data, and conduct analyses, thereby making ongoing efforts to reduce energy consumption and contribute to the company’s transformation and development.
Give Siemens high-voltage frequency converters a try – it’s not certain that domestic high-voltage frequency converters will work better!
Last year, when their production capacity was 700,000 tons, they were still dealing with the issue of insufficient temperature drop in the plate heat exchangers; this year they carried out renovations, while I’m still trying to solve the problem of low pressure in the couplers
