The construction of Junzheng Group’s green, low-carbon, environmentally friendly and biodegradable plastic recycling industry project officially began. Author/Source: Huahua Net – Coal Chemical Industry. Date: April 11, 2022. Clicks: 16. On April 8, at the Wuhai venue of the ceremony marking the start of key projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the construction of Junzheng Group’s green, low-carbon, environmentally friendly and biodegradable plastic recycling industry project officially commenced. The project involves an investment of 20.7 billion yuan to build the first phase of a circular industry facility in the Wuda Industrial Park of Wuhai City, capable of producing 2X600,000 tons of BDO per year, as well as 2X1,000,000 tons of biodegradable plastics such as PBAT/PBS/PBT/PTMEG per year. It is reported that the project utilizes the world’s most advanced BDO production processes and technologies, which offer the highest capacity per production line. By taking advantage of the unique resources available in the Wuhai region, it leverages the existing industrial strengths of this area. It closely integrates the two industrial clusters of \"coal coking\" and \"acetylene chemistry,\" both of which possess significant regional competitive advantages, in order to strengthen and expand these industries and revitalize existing industrial sectors. This approach enables the transformation of chemical raw materials with low added value into high-value fine chemical products. Additionally, a completely new concept of circular economy has been applied to plan the entire industrial chain; through the comprehensive utilization of exhaust gases, waste heat, and intermediate products, energy conservation, emission reduction, and clean production are achieved throughout the process. This model serves as an example for the autonomous region and Wuhai city in terms of adjusting their industrial structures and shifting to more sustainable modes of growth. Zhang Haisheng, chairman and general manager of Junzheng Group, said that the project meets the industry’s standards for clean production in terms of energy conservation, safety, environmental protection, quality, and automation, with its energy consumption figures being below the advanced levels seen in China. The coking plant utilizes the largest and most advanced 6.78-meter ramming coke ovens developed through domestic integration, along with environmentally friendly and energy-saving facilities for making use of the waste heat generated by coke dry quenching. It also employs technologies for the comprehensive utilization of coke oven exhaust gases, enabling the integrated use of these exhaust gases as well as waste heat steam in the production of downstream chemical products. The acetylene feedstock production facility utilizes the world’s most advanced 81,000 KVA calcium carbide furnace, owned by Junzheng and featuring independent intellectual property rights, along with corresponding production processes. The BDO plant adopts the BDO (1,4-butanediol) technology from KTS in the UK (formerly INVISTA), with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons per unit – making it the plant with the highest single-line production capacity in the world at present. The PBAT material is synthesized using a domestically developed low-temperature, short-process direct esterification method, which features a short production process, high efficiency, energy savings, environmental protection, and excellent product quality. On June 21, 2021, the first-phase project of Inner Mongolia Junzheng Energy Chemical Group Co., Ltd.’s green, low-carbon, environmentally friendly and biodegradable plastic recycling industry signed an agreement with Wuhai City **. Li Chunxiao, **Vice Mayor of Wuhai City, and Du Jiangtao, founder and chairman of the board of Junzheng Group, signed the investment agreement for Phase 1 of the green, low-carbon, environmentally friendly and biodegradable plastic recycling industry project on behalf of Wuhai City** and Junzheng Group respectively. Junzheng Group plans to use its wholly-owned subsidiary, Inner Mongolia Junzheng Chemical Co., Ltd., as the investment entity to build the first phase of a green and sustainable circular industry project in Wuda Industrial Park, Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia, with an annual production capacity of 2×600,000 tons of BDO and 2×1,000,000 tons of PBAT/PBS/PBT/PTMEG. The total investment in the project amounts to 20.7 billion yuan. Once operational, the project will produce 600,000 tons of BDO per year, as well as 1 million tons of PBAT/PBS/PBT/PTMEG per year. It is planned to build a facility for producing 1 million tons of PBAT/PBS/PBT/PTMEG per year, a facility for producing 600,000 tons of BDO per year, a facility for producing hydrogen from carbon-based materials, a facility for producing 800,000 tons of formalin (55% wt) per year, a facility for producing 400,000 tons of adipic acid per year, along with associated raw material production facilities. There will also be a facility for producing 800,000 tons of acetylene per year to support the BDO production process, as well as auxiliary facilities such as solid material storage and transportation systems, recirculation water stations, sewage treatment plants, and reclaimed water treatment plants.
