Latest Progress on Shenhua Yulin 3×100,000 Nm3/h Air Separation Project Author/Source: Gas Separation Date: July 2, 2020 Clicks: 14 On July 1, the turbine of Unit 1 of the air separation plant in the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (Phase I), which is under EPC contracting by Hualu Technology, was successfully started up for the first time; all systems were operating steadily, and the overspeed trip tests were completed successfully, marking significant progress in the project’s construction. To ensure the successful achievement of the turbine startup objectives, the project department of Hualu Technology established a Party member responsibility team for the \"air separation unit commissioning\" task, led by the project manager. This team actively organized and coordinated efforts among the owner’s project team, suppliers, patent holders, construction contractors, as well as the production and operation staff of Yulin Company, to carry out specialized \"three inspections and four determinations\" activities regarding the prerequisites for turbine startup ; Carefully formulate a plan to address the remaining tasks in areas such as piping, electrical systems, instrumentation, civil works, and 6S labeling ; Carefully prepare and review the commissioning plan for the 1-to-2 unit. Ultimately, all the preparatory tasks prior to the turbine startup were completed as planned, including pressure testing of the high-pressure steam P91 pipes, chemical cleaning, high-pressure steam purging, oil circulation in the unit, individual testing of auxiliary equipment, and instrument logic testing. At 5 a.m. that day, low-pressure steam was introduced into the air separation unit; subsequently, a two-stage jet ejector was used to evacuate the air cooler system. The leakage rate and vacuum level of the air cooling system met the design and operational requirements, and the waste steam and condensate recovery system was ready for use. At 10:00 exactly, once the temperature of the high-pressure steam pipeline reached the required level, the turbine’s quick-shut valve was opened and the turbine was started up. Following procedures such as warming up at a low speed, accelerating for operation, and testing the overspeed protection system, the turbine finally reached an operating speed of 4353 r/min, which triggered the unit’s interlock protection system and caused the turbine to shut down successfully. During the startup process, technical parameters such as the temperature of the turbine oil, bearing displacement, bearing shell vibration, and machine expansion were all within normal ranges; all interlock mechanisms of the unit functioned properly, and the turbine started successfully on the first attempt. The successful startup of the turbine indicates that the core equipment of the Shenhua Yulin 3×100,000 Nm3/h(O2) air separation plant now has the capability to provide the necessary power for operation, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent testing of the air compressors, boosters, and expanders, as well as for the production of high-quality oxygen and nitrogen products. In November 2017, Hangyang Co., Ltd. signed contracts with Shenhua Yulin Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. and Shenhua Materials Group Company for the design, supply, and maintenance of three 100,000 Nm3/h air separation units for the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (Phase 1). This was another collaboration between Hangyang and these companies, following its provision of six 100,000 Nm3/h air separation units in 2013 for Shenhua Ningxia’s 4 million tons per year coal indirect liquefaction project.
