I would like to ask fellow sailors: what are the main criteria for increasing or decreasing the amount of scale inhibitor added to hydrogenation units? Check the properties of the raw materials? Change in the final temperature of the heat exchanger? Raw oil linear velocity?

Scale inhibitors primarily prevent scaling, by monitoring the pressure drop and heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger. Add scale inhibitor according to actual conditions
The scale inhibitors used in hydrogenation units are usually mixed at the inlet of the feed pump and then introduced together into the reactor; their main purpose is to prevent the accumulation, precipitation, and formation of insoluble salts. In my opinion, the most direct indication of their effectiveness is the pressure drop across the reactor bed； For high heat exchange or air-cooled pressure drop, the primary control method is still water injection.
