The process of desulfurizing natural gas during the VPSA hydrogen production via natural gas water vapor reforming – does this process generate toxic hydrogen sulfide gases?
Natural gas needs to be desulfurized before it enters the conversion furnace. Desulfurization consists of two steps: first, organic sulfur is converted into hydrogen sulfide, usually through hydrodesulfurization； Second: The desulfurizer removes hydrogen sulfide.
Therefore, there is a possibility of hydrogen sulfide leakage at the desulfurization tower, and a hydrogen sulfide leak detector should be installed!
Natural gas contains sulfur, and there is still a risk of hydrogen sulfide during the hydrodesulfurization process
This post was last edited by uyouu1 on 2020-11-30 09:12. The hydrogen production procedures specify that organic sulfur is first converted into inorganic sulfur, and then the inorganic sulfur is removed; as a result, hydrogen sulfide is generated, but its concentration is very low after removal.
Hydrogen sulfide is produced, but the sulfur content in natural gas is very low, almost negligible; therefore, the level of hydrogen sulfide is minimal. Nevertheless, it is still recommended to install detectors for toxic gases.
