At the recently held 2025 China Hydrogen Energy Industry Conference, Fuda Zijin Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Fuda Zijin Hydrogen Energy) unveiled the country’s first commercial ammonia-to-hydrogen hydrogen refueling station with a capacity of 1,000 kilograms. The core technology of this project is the low-temperature ammonia decomposition hydrogen production system independently developed by Fuzhou University Zijin Hydrogen Energy. It enables an ammonia conversion rate of over 99.5% at 480°C; it is smaller in size and consumes less energy than traditional systems, offering advantages such as immediate availability for use and flexible adjustment of production capacity. The project innovatively adopts a \"direct liquid ammonia supply – on-site hydrogen production – immediate hydrogen filling\" model, which completely solves the problem of high transportation costs associated with traditional high-pressure hydrogen storage. As a result, the price of hydrogen at the end user level drops to around 30 yuan per kilogram, representing a 50% reduction compared to conventional methods. In terms of production capacity, this integrated facility is able to produce 1,000 kilograms of high-purity hydrogen per day, providing continuous refueling services for no less than 100 4.5-ton hydrogen fuel cell delivery vehicles.
