Is there any flammable gas? Wouldn’t that be very dangerous?
Lubricating oil, nitrogen, air mixture. There are risks; strengthening oversight will suffice.
There’s no danger; the high rotation speed causes the lubricant temperature to rise, leading to vaporization.
It’s the oil vapor from the lubricating oil. Circulating hydrogen compressors are often driven by steam, which results in high temperatures of the lubricating oil at the drive end, causing some oil vapor to evaporate. Generally, flammable gas detectors are installed in the vicinity; if none are available, such detectors can be added. It is also possible to increase the length of the breather valve and extend the cooling pipelines to ensure proper cooling.
It is the vapor produced by the evaporation of lubricating oil when it is heated. The concentration of evaporated lubricating oil gas in this form is not sufficient for combustion conditions; as long as it is installed according to the design requirements, it should be safe.
How do you recover your oil and gas? Or just vent to the atmosphere directly?
There is a risk: during normal operation, gas is released, but when the temperature becomes too high, the gas emitted will contain decomposed gases, which can lead to explosions.
Whether it is the centrifugal compressors in steam turbines or the retrofitting of breather holes in reciprocating compressors, by extending the cooling pipelines, no significant oil and gas condensation on or inside the equipment has been observed at the site.
