1. Differences in meaning: Diesel is a light petroleum product. It is primarily composed of diesel fractions produced through processes such as crude oil distillation, catalytic cracking, thermal cracking, hydrocracking, and petroleum coking. White oil generally refers to crude oil (or petroleum) that has been extracted and initially processed; it is a natural mineral resource buried underground. Unrefined oil that has been extracted through exploration and drilling is also known as crude oil. 2. Differences in usage: Diesel is widely used in large vehicles, railway locomotives, and ships. Primarily used as a liquid fuel for diesel engines, diesel boasts environmentally friendly properties such as low energy consumption and low pollution; as a result, some small cars and even high-performance vehicles are switching to diesel. Primarily used in tractors, large vehicles, diesel locomotives, as well as in construction, excavators, loaders, fishing boats, etc. White oil is used in the manufacture of washing powder, synthetic detergents, synthetic petroleum protein, pesticide emulsifiers, and hydraulic systems. In the food industry, it can be used as a coating agent. 3. Differences in nature: Diesel is a mixture of complex hydrocarbons (with approximately 10–22 carbon atoms). Liquid petroleum fractions whose boiling point range and viscosity lie between kerosene and lubricating oil. It is flammable and volatile, insoluble in water, but soluble in alcohol and other organic solvents. The boiling point ranges fall into two categories: 180°C to 370°C and 350°C to 410°C. White oil paraffin has such properties that it does not exhibit fluorescence when viewed under daylight. At room temperature, it is odorless and tasteless; when heated, it has a slight petroleum-like odor. Density and specific gravity: 0.86–0.905 (at 25°C). It is insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in volatile oils, and miscible with most non-volatile oils. It is stable to light, heat, and acids; however, prolonged exposure to light and heat causes it to gradually oxidize.
