A newly installed unit has been fed with hydrogen fluoride, and sand holes were found at the flanges. What should be done? The normal operating temperature of the device is from -20 degrees to 0 degrees. Slightly positive pressure. If quick-hardening steel is used and the temperature is low, condensation water will form. What are some good alternatives that are non-stick?
If the leakage from a sandhole is not severe, it may be possible to stop the leak by hitting it with a pointed hammer or iron rod; however, care must be taken to prevent explosions. After the leak is stopped, external clamps can be welded in place.
There are companies that can handle leak sealing under pressure, but it’s unclear whether the cost will be affordable, as the pressure in your case is relatively low.
Park the vehicle properly and carry out discharge, replacement, and maintenance – after all, it’s hydrofluoric acid; think about the consequences
