For chemical manufacturing companies, shift work is almost essential; those working night shifts often suffer from poor mental and physical condition. Things such as dozing off at work, using mobile phones, and engaging in personal tasks are common occurrences. Many operational accidents happen during night shifts. Based on your own management experience, please share your ideas on how to maintain proper discipline among workers on night shifts
First of all, it is necessary to ensure that employees have sufficient sleep time.
Personally, night shifts mean drowsiness; when I’m sleepy, my judgment is impaired, which can lead to mistakes. So far, however, there have been no mistakes.
To be honest, it depends on the type of position. If it’s a key operational role, one shouldn’t doze off. After all, one should perform their duties accordingly; what’s feared is that during those few minutes of drowsiness, significant fluctuations in the process could occur and lead to accidents, and those same minutes might also result in the loss of the best opportunity to take corrective action, which could prove fatal.
Working the night shift allows for breaks, keeping one energetic and safer.
Try to assign as little work as possible during night shifts, in order to reduce process adjustments!
The operator on site can enter the control room to assist the main operator in taking turns monitoring and operating! In this way, the main operator can take a short break, while those handling external operations can learn effectively!*
This is a corporate management issue; it would be better to establish a patrol team dedicated to enforcing labor discipline.
Ensure reasonable wages so that employees can rest adequately after work. The salary and benefits are unreasonable; it’s impossible for employees to be safe even when they engage in side jobs after work
I quite agree with what was said on the 4th floor. But it’s really difficult to work night shifts without feeling sleepy. Are there anyone who can work night shifts without getting sleepy?
For night shifts, control room staff are required to take breaks of about ten minutes at regular intervals, with the shift leader taking over so that everyone can take turns resting. For outdoor work, one can take breaks on their own; it’s good enough if one can call out to others using the walkie-talkie and carry out inspections on time.
