Requirements for boiler operator staffing

Which region are you from? According to the Shandong Province standard “BD37T-3080-2017 Standards for the Allocation of Personnel for Special Equipment Operations”, section 6.1 regarding boilers, an appropriate number of operators should be assigned to each boiler per shift, based on the actual conditions of the boiler and in accordance with the requirements of its safety control instruments, routine inspections, and on-site operations. The number of operators on duty for each boiler in use, as well as those responsible for water treatment, should be as follows: a) For boilers with a rated output of 4 t/h or less (thermal power of 2.8 MW), there should be 1 boiler operator and 1 water treatment worker per boiler per shift ； b) For boilers with a rated output greater than 4 t/h (thermal power of 2.8 MW) and less than or equal to 35 t/h (thermal power of 24.5 MW), 2 boiler operators are required per boiler per shift, along with 1 water treatment worker ； c) For boilers with a rated output of more than 35 t/h (thermal power of 24.5 MW), 3 boiler operators and 2 water treatment staff are required per boiler per shift ； d) When 2 or more boilers (including 2) are operating simultaneously in one boiler room, the on-duty boiler operator’s salary is calculated at 70% of the rate specified in items a) to c), while the water treatment staff’s salary is calculated based on the number of water treatment units ； e) The staffing for organic heat carrier boilers shall be determined in accordance with the requirements for hot water boilers ； f) For fuel boilers and gas boilers, there is 1 boiler operator per shift, along with 1 water treatment worker ； g) Fully automatic boilers of Class B and below may not require on-site boiler operation personnel, but a regular inspection system must be established.
