Internal floating roof Flame arrester

A recent standard for petrochemical industries I read states that a flame arrester should be installed on the vent pipe at the center of the roof of internal floating roof tanks; I’m not quite sure about this. Is installing a flame arrester on the central vent of an internal floating roof detrimental to the dilution and dispersion of flammable gases, thereby potentially creating an explosive mixture on the roof of the tank? Are there any cases of flame arresters being installed on the central vent of internal floating roofs?
In a non-combusting and non-heating condition, the flame arrester does not prevent the evaporation of light hydrocarbons and normal air circulation. Of course, there are cases of flame arresters being installed on internal floating roof storage tanks; otherwise, it would make no sense to include this requirement in the standards.
Just make sure to see the words “methanol tank” and the actual flame arrester on top of the tank. The others are not very useful, haha! Thank you for the donation
By providing the flow rate, the design institute can select an appropriate flame arrester that does not affect flow.
