At the same time, we must also be aware that not all companies succeed in their efforts to implement TPM. Therefore, manufacturing firms need to master the relevant theoretical methods for TPM-based equipment management in order to carry out effective equipment management. TPM management, whose full name is Total Productive Maintenance, has five key elements: First, the goal of maximizing the overall efficiency of equipment ; Second, establish a thorough preventive maintenance system throughout the equipment’s lifetime ; Third, it is implemented jointly by various departments ; Fourth, it relates to each employee, from top management to workers on the ground ; Fifth, it is advanced through motivation management, that is, autonomous group activities. Simply put, preventive maintenance involves carrying out regular maintenance checks on equipment, including upkeep, repairs, and scheduled maintenance. Among them, maintenance is carried out to assess the operating condition of the equipment as well as to evaluate it. Maintenance is carried out to extend the service life of equipment by assessing its wear and degree of aging. But essentially, the core of equipment management is equipment maintenance, and maintenance methods are also one of the important means to ensure the operational condition of equipment. The main goal of maintenance management is safe production, that is, to minimize equipment losses in manufacturing enterprises as much as possible. By formulating a reasonable maintenance strategy, it is possible to assess certain indirect cost factors, including product quality, maintenance conditions, and operational risks, thereby achieving overall optimization between the costs of preventive maintenance and the costs resulting from failures. Therefore, to strengthen equipment maintenance management and improve the level of equipment repair, it is necessary to choose the right maintenance management model and enhance the skills of maintenance technicians. Based on a practical analysis, the challenge in equipment maintenance lies in determining the optimal timing for repairs, that is, time optimization – balancing production goals against maintenance costs in order to maximize the benefits of such maintenance. Manufacturing enterprises establish a comprehensive preventive maintenance system based on preventive management principles. By strengthening the maintenance of equipment during its operational life, they can take appropriate actions before equipment failures occur, thereby reducing the likelihood of such failures. Daily inspections and regular tests of the equipment form the basis for developing corresponding maintenance plans that specify the tasks to be carried out, the methods used, and the timing of repairs. This approach ensures that preventive maintenance is carried out more flexibly and also helps to improve the quality of equipment management. To avoid excessive frequent daily inspections that would increase maintenance costs, it is recommended that manufacturers adopt a preventive and maintenance approach for their equipment, that is, to conduct regular inspections, thereby reducing the likelihood of failures and maintenance expenses and ensuring good economic efficiency for the company. 1. Equipment maintenance methods: It is necessary to conduct a dimensional analysis of the likelihood of equipment failures based on the maintenance standards specified by the enterprise; this involves an analysis of quantity and level. Passive maintenance involves carrying out repairs only after a device fails; this approach is too delayed and no longer meets the requirements of modern management. 2. Practical application of equipment maintenance strategies Analyzed from the perspectives of equipment service life and corporate operations. Equipment maintenance should focus on prevention with repair as a supplementary measure. If the equipment has developed serious faults, companies need to adopt more cost-effective repair methods in order to minimize the impact of equipment damage on the business. During equipment maintenance, not only operators and maintenance staff are involved, but also technical personnel and managers; everyone from top management to on-site workers is part of the equipment maintenance process. Based on professional performance criteria, a comprehensive preventive maintenance system is established; operators are responsible for daily maintenance tasks, including lubricating, adjusting, and cleaning the equipment, as well as carrying out some simple repairs. The professional maintenance team is primarily responsible for repair work and preventive maintenance, focusing on maintaining and servicing equipment that has already developed certain issues. Meanwhile, in equipment management, in order to achieve total productive maintenance, it is essential to strengthen regular inspections of the equipment. Through daily monitoring, combined with equipment repairs, a total productive maintenance system can be established, which helps to minimize the occurrence of equipment failures and thus ensures safe operation of the equipment, reducing the impact on the economic performance of manufacturing enterprises. By mastering new methods of equipment management, manufacturing enterprises can effectively improve the total productive maintenance of their equipment. The equipment management mechanisms and application methods mentioned here essentially involve focusing on three aspects: preventive maintenance and repair. Prevention forms the foundation, maintenance is the core, and repair serves as a means to address issues. If companies can do a good job in prevention and maintenance, they can significantly reduce the likelihood of mechanical failures. To ensure that TPM initiatives yield clear results, companies should adhere to a step-by-step approach and conduct regular training on TPM equipment management in order to improve employees’ ability to carry out tasks.
