A classic case of quality management in the pharmaceutical industry: This new project was carried out in collaboration with HZMSD Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Company H). By applying Quality Function Deployment (QFD), it explored the acceptability of this approach at the supply chain level in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, as well as its practical significance. The goal was to improve Company H’s quality management processes within its supply chain management, while also providing a useful reference for other pharmaceutical companies in China to enhance the quality management of their supply chains. This new project collaborates with HZMSD Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Company H) to apply Quality Function Deployment (QFD), analyzing and exploring the acceptability of this approach at the supply chain level in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry as well as its practical significance. It aims to improve Company H’s quality management processes within supply chain management, while also providing a useful reference for other pharmaceutical companies in China to enhance the quality management of their supply chains. Based on this new project, it is evident that QFD is applicable to the quality control in H Company’s supply chain management approach; moreover, it provides valuable support for improving the quality of H Company’s products and services. Enterprise H’s traditional quality control methods place greater emphasis on strict compliance with policies and regulations; while compliance is indeed crucial, it is equally important for Enterprise H to take into account the requirements of other customers beyond its own internal departments in order to gain and maintain competitiveness in today’s competitive market environment. Compared with H Company’s traditional quality control methods, the advantages of the core concepts and approaches of QFD in this new VOC project are reflected in the following aspects: (1) QFD facilitates the systematic understanding of customer requirements, thereby enabling those requirements to be met; (2) it ensures that customers’ actual needs can be properly conveyed and reflected in the design of products and services. (3) Management decision-making tools for scientific research were presented to assist in developing design solutions that can maximize the utility of goods or services. (4) It promoted collaboration among cross-functional elite teams, ensuring that all aspects are systematically taken into account throughout the entire design process of products and services. Based on the new projects in which QFD has been applied at Company H, it can be seen that this tool is equally applicable to other pharmaceutical companies, including both Chinese and foreign-funded companies. Within a supply chain framework, in addition to helping companies understand consumer demands, it also enables them to work together with distributors to develop products and services that better meet those demands.
